portshow + portfolio tips!
these are the places i used for all my stuff for the show //
  • business cards - elite flyers // donnell, amazing service + good quality cards. i'll never need 5000 cards but i wanted square cards & it was $85 bucks for squares!
  • photobooth - cheesy photobooths // alex, brandon, ryan, SO great and gave me a really good deal since i was a poor student.
  • screenprinted bags - Electric Screen Printing // cameron, 714-926-4117 - super nice! got the bag + did the printing for me in 2 days.
  • tags / leavebehind - overnightprints // just order with lots of time in case they mess up. i almost didn't get my stuff in time. my friend britt didn't get hers in time, she ended up having to make all her cards. but they have good customer service.
  • paper - i ordered a ton from neenah paper, they have 12x19 sheets for free you just have to pay shipping. their paper has really good texture and it's good quality but the prints were horrible for my ink jet printer so i ended up using hp matte paper. it depends on what printer you have. just make sure you have time to test your papers. i was doing it the week before and stressing out.
  • portfolio - paperhaus // there are lots of sites with portfolios though. mine was ok, i didn't think the quality was that good. it was wood laminate, so fake wood? ha. whatev, it turned out ok. be sure to order adhesive strips for your pages.
  • engraving for your portfolio - the art institute // jason works in the industrial side, he was cool, he did some test runs before engraving it. and it's free!
so i figured that'd be helpful to friends who are graduating, people, whatever ... and i wanted to list out the places i got all my stuff from since they were super helpful. i wish i had a friend who told me everything i needed to know about my portfolio and the show but i guess it's just something you have to figure out as you go along. it all comes together in the end.
