so i just got back from Rwanda, Africa on Sunday. AMAZING. photos and words can in no way express everything that we experienced there. our team spent 2 weeks bringing hope & encouragement to the people of Rwanda through ministries like house-building, passing out care-kits to people in hospitals and homes, and putting on different workshops. we worked with world relief to do all of this. (www.wr.org) they are a great organization doing many things all over the world for people in need.it was unreal. i think it was in the 2nd verse of singing the 'hokey-pokey' in a circle of about 25 kids when it really hit me that i was in Africa. many are so broken. women who are forced into prostitution because they have no other means of income. families who live on less than $2 a day. women with hiv who live each day as it comes. we had the opportunity to hear their stories, and share our stories with them. we sang with them, we danced with them, we prayed for them and we loved them.
it is hard to come back home and get into routine and normal life once again. the children broke my heart. i close my eyes and can see all their little faces looking and smiling at me yelling 'muzungo' / (translated: white person) and playing duck-duck-goose with them. it was a blessing to go. God is doing many things in Africa. if you have a chance, check out the pics in my flickr album.
